Auckland | November 20 – Corporate Challenge 5k

Auckland | November 20

EAARLYBIRD DEADLINE: 5PM WEDENSDAY, OCTOBER 30TH 2024

THE DOMAIN

Team work makes the dream work at Corporate Challenge Auckland! join us on Wednesday, 20th November for a fun-filled night of team building, fitness and friendly competition.

The event venue is on the grounds right in front of the venerable Main Grandstand in Auckland's beautiful Domain, with the War Memorial Museum as a backdrop. Teams can pack in any time from 1pm onwards, unload your tent and BBQ and our team will keep an eye on it for you. Things really start to ramp up from 5pm as the venue fills up. Team photos are taken from 5:30pm onwards as we build towards the mass warm-up at 6:20pm and race start at 6:30.

After you finish your 5k - running or walking two loops of a flat course around the Domain - grab a banana and water or sport drink before heading back to your tent to see how your mates did. The best performances of the day - plus our amazing team managers - are acknowledged at the Awards Cermony at 7:30pm. Spot prizes wrap up around 8pm and there's time to exchange war stories as you pack down.

What a great night out for the team!

 The Course

Corporate Challenge Auckland features two laps of Auckland's beautiful Domain. The course passes landmarks such as the Auckland War Memorial Museum, Winter Garden and duck ponds.

The course begins with a short, flat out section on the grass in front of the main grandstand before a section on Football Rd. The road rises gently in front of the museum and Cenotaph. A path links downwards to the elevated footpath on Domain Drive before a left turn towards the Winter Gardens and Kiosk Rd. Just before Domain Drive, step back onto the grass to complete the lap.

Important! Corporate Challenge Auckland is a two lap course. Please keep right as you run under the finish arch to begin your second lap.

On Course

Course Map See the Course Map section above for detailed course maps in a variety of formats.
Directions The Corporate Challenge Auckland course is very easy to follow and very difficult to get lost. Look out for our directional arrows - a white arrow on a blue circle - and a race marshal at all turns and intersections. Distance markers will highlight each kilometer of the course (Important! As this is a two-lap course, you will pass the 3km and 4km markers on the first lap too - don't be deceived!).
Course Etiquette Slower runners and walkers, please start at the back of the field. You will enjoy the event so much more if you don't have keen runners trying to get past you as you start.
Important! It is vitally important that walkers are no more than two-abreast during the first lap. The faster runners will catch you up on their second lap *much* sooner than you think (for some walkers, you will barely reach the 1km sign when the leaders pass on their second lap). Once you are onto your second lap, feel free to spread out more and enjoy the company of your friends as you go around.
Pedestrians & Dogs Please be courteous to members of the public and give them space on the footpaths - they have as much right to use them as you do.
Friendly, well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome at the event venue, however participants must not be accompanied by pets.
Toilets A public toilet is available just off-course near the junction of The Crescent and Kiosk Rd (2km mark).

Safety

On Course You must always remain fully aware of your surroundings and look out for uneven surfaces, obstacles or vehicles. Even where the road is closed, we cannot guarantee it will be traffic-free. Only proceed where you are satisfied it is safe to do so.
Medical A trained medical contractor will be stationed at the finish line to deal with any illness or injury. If you see anyone in distress on course, stay with them and send a message to the next marshal. If it is a life-threatening emegency, ask someone to call 111. In the case of an emergency, our marshals or race crew will contact the on-site medical team in the first instance and - should there be any delay - dial 111.
Important! In certain circumstances, on-site medicals may be able to respond to an emergency faster than 111.
Marshals Our event marshals are easy to spot in bright orange high-vis vests. Please obey the marshals where they are acting for your safety. Marshals can make emergency calls on your behalf or contact event medical staff.
