HAGLEY PARK
Team work makes the dream work at Corporate Challenge Christchurch! join us on Wednesday, 6th November for a fun-filled night of team building, fitness and friendly competition.
If there's a more stunning location for an outdoor event on a sunny, spring Wednesday evening ... we've yet to find it! Victoria Lake provides the backdrop to Corporate Challenge Christchurch, with Event HQ and start/finish line in the heart of the Entertainment Triangle in North Hagley Park. Team tents surround the finish line to add to the party atmosphere for what has become the biggest event of the series.
After you finish your 5k - running or walking a flat, figure-8 course around North Hagley Park - grab a banana and water or sport drink before heading back to your tent to see how your mates did. The best performances of the day - plus our amazing team managers - are acknowledged at the Awards Cermony at 7:30pm. Spot prizes wrap up around 8pm and there's time to exchange war stories as you pack down.
What a great night out for the team!

Event Venue
North Hagley Park plays host to Corporate Challenge Christchurch. Event HQ takes over the Entertainment Triangle with Victoria Lake as a backdrop. Team tents create a natural surround for a great atmosphere with our main stage right in front of the lake. What a venue!
Important! Team tents and supplies may be dropped off and picked up at the pick up area accessed from the Armagh St Bridge road, heading towards the Botanic Gardens car park. Check out the access map below.
Important! There is no parking on the grassed area during the event.
Location, Access & Parking
The Entertainment Triangle of North Hagley Park is a short 10-15 minute walk from most points in the city centre. Just head for the Armagh St bridge and the venue is straight ahead. The primary parking area is the extensive Botanic Gardens car park but this does usually fill so arrive early to secure your spot. Alternatively, there is plenty of parking available in the city.
Important! Corporate Challenge Christchurch takes place entirely within the confines of North Hagley Park. There are no road crossings on the route and no road closures or other traffic management restrictions around the venue.
2023 Corporate Challenge Christchurch
The Course
Corporate Challenge Christchurch takes place entirely within the leafy confines of gorgeous North Hagley Park. The start and finish line are in the Entertainment Triangle with stunning Victoria Lake as a backdrop.
The course is a flat figure-of-eight route around North Hagley. After passing Victoria Lake, the western loop heads out to Deans Ave and back on the footpath bordering the golf course. Back at the lake, bear left for the eastern loop which heads out to Harper Ave. Look out for the short out-and-back section near Harper Ave to get our distance right, then a stunning final km runs down the western bank of the Avon to the finish line.
Important! Please be respectful of other users of the park. Once they become aware of the event, most other pedestrians are happy to move to the side of the path.
1. PLOTAROUTE is a third-party mapping service with an interactive map of the route.

Directions | The Corporate Challenge Christchurch course is very easy to follow and very difficult to get lost. Look out for our directional arrows - a white arrow on a blue circle - and a race marshal at all turns and intersections. Distance markers will highlight each kilometer of the course. |
Course Etiquette | Slower runners and walkers, please start at the back of the field. You will enjoy the event so much more if you don't have keen runners trying to get past you as you start. As a general rule, if not running or walking with your friends, keep to the left side of the footpath to allow others to pass you. |

Toilets | Just after the half way mark, you will pass the public toilet at the north side of Lake Albert. |

Safety |
|
---|---|
On Course | You must always remain fully aware of your surroundings and look out for uneven surfaces, obstacles or vehicles. Even where the road is closed, we cannot guarantee it will be traffic-free. Only proceed where you are satisfied it is safe to do so. |
Medical | A trained medical contractor will be stationed at the finish line to deal with any illness or injury. If you see anyone in distress on course, stay with them and send a message to the next marshal. If it is a life-threatening emegency, ask someone to call 111. In the case of an emergency, our marshals or race crew will contact the on-site medical team in the first instance and - should there be any delay - dial 111. Important! In certain circumstances, on-site medicals may be able to respond to an emergency faster than 111. |
Marshals | Our event marshals are easy to spot in bright orange high-vis vests. Please obey the marshals where they are acting for your safety. Marshals can make emergency calls on your behalf or contact event medical staff. |
